42nd Charter Anniversary Lunch 2016

A lunch was held on 6th November at the Shaw Country Hotel to celebrate the 42nd Anniversary of our Charter.

We were extremely well supported not only by our own members and their guests but by our Mayor, Terri Welch, our District Governor, Godfrey Morris and his wife Ann plus Presidents and guests from Lions Clubs around the region.

(Chippenham, Chipping Sodbury, Highworth and District, Marlborough and District and Warminster)

Two of our members, Christine Haschka and Peter Dauncey were presented with Chevrons

to celebrate 10 years of service with the Lions Club.

The Club was presented with a Centennial Service Banner Patch for meeting its Centennial Service Challenge.

The whole afternoon was a great success with food being as ever – exceptional.

The raffle we held raised £134 which is to be donated to Julia’s House in Wiltshire.

Larkrise Riding for the Disabled Group

larkrise-1

Today Melksham Lions visited the Larkrise Community Farm at West Ashton where our President Keith Mead presented a cheque to Wendy Self, Chair of the Larkrise Riding for the Disabled Group.

Our donation is going towards their fundraising efforts to put a roof over their equine handling area.

Once completed it will allow them to provide riding lessons for the disabled throughout the year.

Melksham Lions Club Christmas FLoat

Each year since Melksham Lions Club was formed in 1974 we have in the run-up to Christmas taken a Christmas Float and Father Christmas around many of the local housing developments. The money collected going towards helping local causes in our community. It is with much regret that we must inform you that this year we are unable, due to lack of resources, to continue with the evening outings.

Knowing that this is a much anticipated and looked forward to event we are however going to bring our Christmas Float, and if possible Father Christmas, to several local venues during the weekends leading up to Christmas.

We would take this opportunity to thank all those who have supported us in the past and hope you will take the time to visit us at the various locations this Christmas.

Once the exact locations and times have been finalized we will publish all the information in the Melksham News, here – on our website, and on our Facebook page Melkshamlionsclub.
