Melksham and District Seniors Community Day

Melksham Lions were at the Melksham and District Seniors Community Day yesterday. This is the second such event organised by Melksham Seniors and looks as though it might be an annual event for our calendar.

Our recently refreshed display board attracted a lot of interest in our Club as it highlighted:

How we raise funds, How we spend those funds and some of our social outings.

We were pleased to have our local MP, Michelle Donelan, take time out to have a chat with us regards what we do in our community.

A very successful day for all with, we were told, in excess of 300 visitors to the event.

Chidrens Easter Party

Another wonderful afternoon was had on Monday 3rd April when we gave a Children’s Party/Easter egg hunt at Melksham’s temporary accommodation unit for vulnerable people.

We were again indebted to Dave “The Balloon Man” Hickory” who entertained the children with his magical balloon creations.

Thanks also go out to “Friends of Lions” Rachel and Ralph for the help they gave us.

   THANKS DAVE !

Rotary Celebration

Melksham Lions President Keith Mead with Melksham Rotary President Verly Ives

Melksham Lions joined the Melksham Rotary Club at a buffet reception last night (21st March) in the Town Hall to celebrate a milestone in their fund raising efforts.

Rotary have raised £100,000 in 6 years to donate to charities.

WELL DONE ROTARY!

Lions Clubs District 105W – 42nd Convention.

Our Immediate Past President Jim Whyborn and Secretary Sue Whyborn seem to have ben enjoying themselves at the 105W District Convention at the Gables Hotel, Falfield in Gloucestershire whilst representing our Club.

Whilst there, Jim Whyborn proposed Melksham Lion – Steve Petty – for the post of “District Governor 105W” for 2017/18.

Obviously a big surprise for Steve as can be seen in photo or was something else going on?

Steve will take up his post as from 1st July at the start of the new Lion year.

Congratulations go out to Steve from all of us in Melksham Lions.
