Melvin Jones Fellowship (MJF) Awards are given out to members by their fellow Club members in recognition of their outstanding service to both the Lions Club and the local community.

Pictured above with me are three of our members who it was felt were well deserving of such an award.

Due to some rather unforeseen circumstances it was not possible to make all three presentations at the same time.

It was my pleasure to present two of the three awards at our Christmas dinner held on 5th December 2017; these being to:

Simon White – a Charter member of Melksham Lions Club who has served the Club for over 44 years. During this time he has been President 8 times and is currently Chair of our activities committee.

Jim Whyborn – a Lion of over 14 years with the last 7 being with Melksham Lions Club. During his time with Melksham Lions he was President for 2 years and is currently Chair of our welfare committee.

It therefore gave me much pleasure at our meeting last night to present the third and final Melvin Jones Fellowship (MJF) Award to:

Cliff Terrell – a member of Melksham Lions Club for over 37 years. During this time he was President for a year – but most significantly Treasurer for 27 years.

42nd Charter Anniversary Lunch 2016

A lunch was held on 6th November at the Shaw Country Hotel to celebrate the 42nd Anniversary of our Charter.

We were extremely well supported not only by our own members and their guests but by our Mayor, Terri Welch, our District Governor, Godfrey Morris and his wife Ann plus Presidents and guests from Lions Clubs around the region.

(Chippenham, Chipping Sodbury, Highworth and District, Marlborough and District and Warminster)

Two of our members, Christine Haschka and Peter Dauncey were presented with Chevrons

to celebrate 10 years of service with the Lions Club.

The Club was presented with a Centennial Service Banner Patch for meeting its Centennial Service Challenge.

The whole afternoon was a great success with food being as ever – exceptional.

The raffle we held raised £134 which is to be donated to Julia’s House in Wiltshire.

Our 40th Year

This year, 2014, sees our club celebrate its fortieth birthday. How amazing is that? And WHERE has the time gone so fast? The 40th Charter Dinner was held on May 4th at the Shaw Country Hotel and a great day of celebration took place on May 31st. A big “Thank you” goes out to everyone who has supported these events and we look forward to further gatherings in the future. Now then… who’s got the cake?

2012 New President

New President For 2012

Tuesday June 26th 2012 saw the official hand over of the Presidential role within Melksham Lions.

Members gathered at the Raven Inn in Poulshout to enjoy a lovely meal and to mark the occasion; Lion Peter Dauncey passed the baton to Lion Steve Petty who now takes the helm for the next two years. Many thanks go to Peter for all his work over the last two years and we look forward to the next term of office with Steve in the chair.
