Donation to Wiltshire Air Ambulance

Air Ambulance Presentation 12 July 2016

Newly elected President of Melksham Lions Club, Keith Mead, presented Sara Bakewell of the Wiltshire Air Ambulance Charity Team a cheque for £500.00 last night on behalf of Melksham Lions.

Melksham Lions have been actively supporting the Wiltshire Air Ambulance over a number of years and have now donated in excess of £10,000.

The Wiltshire Air Ambulance provides an essential Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) throughout the county and beyond. The crew works alongside SWASfT (the South Western Ambulance Service foundation Trust) land crews and other emergency services to deliver the best medical care possible to anybody who lives, works or travels in Wiltshire.

2016 Handover Dinner

Members and their spouses met up last night (28th June) at the Rising Sun Pub at Lacock to celebrate the handing over of the Presidency of Melksham Lions from Lion Jim Whyborn to Lion Keith Mead. Lion Jim has been President of the Club for the last 2 years and in that time has achieved much of note. In particular Lion Jim was responsible for the instigation of the donation of Emergency Reception Packs to a local Hostel for Vulnerable Homeless Persons. A task which continues to provide some much needed help to people at maybe their lowest point.

Lion Keith takes over the Presidency after 16 years of service with Lions International. Lion Keith has been a member of the Melksham Lions Club for around 18 months and in that time served as Membership Chairman.

In addition Lion Simon White, a founder member of the Club in 1974,  was presented with a personal gift by Lion Jim of a “Presidents Appreciation Award”. The award was to say big thank you for all the work he has done and continues to do behind the scenes to support the Club activities.

A great evening was had by all with good food, good company and good conversation continuing throughout the evening.

Melksham Lions at Calne Lions 2016 Duck Race

Melksham Lions again supported the Calne Lions at their annual Duck Race on 14th May.

We ran a Lions Tombola Stall as is usual, but this time following the donation to us of a huge amount of books we had some of them up for sale.

President Jim Whyborn and Treasurer Ruth Mead manned the stall with support from Vice President Keith Mead.

A great day was had by all and the event was extremely successful not only for Calne Lions but for Melksham Lions.

Thanks to all who supported us on the day.

Just to prove there are winners on the Tombola pictured is one of the winners.
