Melksham Lions Club supports local Food Bank

Vice President Jim Whyborn (centre) today presented Melksham Food Bank with some      desperately need wash bags, items we have been donating to them for a little while now.

In addition, as its coming up to Christmas, Jim also presented them with a cheque which they will be using to buy Chocolate Selection Boxes for children to be put in the family packs.

The food bank presented us with a “Certificate of Appreciation” for our support.

1st Vice District Governor of 105W visits Melksham Lions Club

Melksham Lions were pleased to welcome Sally Marsh, 1st Vice District Governor of  District 105W, to our meeting on Tuesday 7th November.

We were delighted when she presented a 40 year long service pin and certificate to

Lion John Pritchard.

CONGRATULATIONS JOHN.

Sally Marsh also presented Melksham Lions President, Keith Mead, with our District Governors bannerette along with a Centennial award for the help we have given to our local community.

Our President of course reciprocated that gift with a presentation of our own Clubs bannerette which we had commissioned in celebration of

40 years of service in 2014.

Riding for the Disabled

Today 22nd July 2017 Melksham Lions had the privilege, along with Westbury Lions Club, of going to Larkrise Community Farm to see the opening of the indoor riding school by:-

Ten-time Paralympic equestrian medallist Anne Dunham

Anne Dunham OBE

This is a project that we and some other local Lions Clubs have contributed towards.

We were also pleased to buy honey from the beehives which we bought for the farm, along with other Lions Club’s in the area, a few years ago.

We met two Westbury Lions (in the photo) and it was good to compare notes!!

Melksham’s – Party in the Park

We were at Melksham’s annual Party in the Park yesterday – along with our Lions Tombola stand.

Bit of a windy day – but we were well supported by those who braved the wind and threat of rain.

Thanks to your generosity we raised just over a £100 which will be added to the funds we use for supporting our local community.

Donation to Wiltshire Mind

Our Secretary Sue Whyborn (on the right) presented a cheque for £150 to Beverly Harris, Manager of the Wiltshire Mind Charity shop in Melksham, in recognition of the good work they do in our community.

Wiltshire Mind is a local independent Mental Health Charity based in Melksham and provides County-wide services. It is a charity that relies exclusively on donations and fundraising to generate the income needed to provide their mental health services

They have helped so many people in our area, a very worthwhile cause.

They have also been supporting  Melksham Lions by donating items to us for the homeless that we continue to support in Melksham.
