RECENT EVENTS

JULY 17th2010
PARTY IN THE PARK! Melksham Lions were in attendance with a stall during the afternoon of this year's Party In The Park event. Did anyone manage to whack the rat? A fine day for it, and if you weren't there.... WHY NOT? :)

The evening carnival procession saw a pair of caged lions paraded through the town. Quite friendly, they were seen to wave at the crowds and reports suggest they took tea a little later. Longleat has been informed...

MAY 22nd 2010
Another wonderful evening of song; we were thrilled to welcome back the Côr Meibion Maesteg a’r Cylch, otherwise known as the Maesteg & District Male Voice Choir, on May 22nd. A fantastic night as is usual for the 'Maesteg Night'. Tell everyone you know; this is ALWAYS a fantastic night out and you should keep your eyes open for the next one! (We have this in for May 21st 2011; to be confirmed but mark it in your diary now!)

THROUGHOUT DECEMBER 2009
Melksham Lions toured the town again this year with a special visit by Father Chrstmas on his sleigh. Thanks to all those who came out to wave as Santa passed by and thow some coins in the bucket!

We also made collections outside the local supermarkets as we led into Christmas; this is an annual activity that never fails to cheer us, despite the cold! Our thanks remain with you for your generosity in helping us to raise funds for all the various community benefits that we at the Melksham Lions Club strive to assist throughout the year.

NOVEMBER 28th (Saturday)
The club ran stalls at the town's Christmas Fayre in the Assembly Rooms. All hands on deck! A successful day all toldalthough a few more shipmates might have been handy.

PARTY IN THE PARK 2009
July 18th saw Party In The Park return to The King George V playing field in Melksham: We were there with everyone else, supporting your local community and raising awareness of our day to day involvment. Thanks to everyone who came over for a chat and to join in our fun and games. See you there next year!

THE MAESTEG CHOIR
May 2nd saw the fabulous Maesteg Choir return to Melksham House for another tremendous evening of entertainment. A full house again, and what a performance! If you missed it, don't worry they're coming back next year!

CAROLS FOR CHRISTMAS
The two weeks before Christmas found us, together with Santa and his Reindeer Float, round the streets of Melksham, taking Carols to the residents. We were also outside Somerfield's and Sainsbury's with the float at the weekends, and this year at the new Lidl's Store on Christmas Eve. Thankyou to everybody who helped and especially those who contributed to our collections.

CHRISTMAS FAIR
A good day, with a good crowd. Santa duly arrived and the Town Lights were switched on.
The crowds at the stalls did us proud and we were able to add to our Charity funds enabling us to help others in the near future.

ORGANISATIONS FAIR
A good day although the Fair was not well attended. We made several new contacts and friends in other organisations and gave out a good number of information leaflets, hopefully which may produce a new member or two!!

DOUBLE BILL
Saturday 4th October saw a double bill at Melksham Assembly Hall.
An evening of music and song from THE KENTWOOD SHOW CHOIR and Singers from LoganWest Productions, was enjoyed by our patrons.
The Club would like to especially thank those who sponsored us through advertising in the programme.

Party in the Park
A good afternoon. Despite several attempts by the weather to put a damper on things, we had a successful time with our stall and met old friends and made some new ones

The Maesteg Choir returned
For the twelfth year the Maesteg Choir came to Melksham House and gave their usual great performance. ( Click on the Maesteg page for more information.)

Lunch for the Elderly
Sat 15th March saw 51 of the more elderly folk from our local community sit down to an excellent lunch in Melksham House. They were joined by the Town Mayor and his lady, duly introduced by the Town Crier - Lion Peter Dauncey.
Following the meal our guests were treated to a splendid entertainment by the local 'Pearlies' and enjoyed a great singalong.

CHRISTMAS Collections
During the two weeks before Christmas,Lions Club members and helpers were out with our Christmas Float; playing carols and of course attended by Father Christmas. We were also outside the supermarkets at the weekends and Christmas Eve. We are very grateful to the public, for their generosity in giving to help others.

MELKSHAM Christmas Fair
Despite very mixed weather ranging from bright and sunny to torrential showers all went well. Lion Simon White brought in Santa in his sleigh and they were accompanied by Lion Peter Dauncey, the melksham Town Crier, and several of his fellow criers from other local towns. The fair was both inside the assembly rooms and outside in the carpark. Our stalls were inside so we avoided the bad weather and were pleased with the results of the day!

MAGIC came to Melksham
An evening of mystifying magic had the audience enthralled, as magician Frank E. Haschka showed why he is an award winner!
The evening was to benefit The Naomi Childrens Hospice

Melksham Party In The Park
Saturday 14th July - Thank you for your support and weren't we lucky with the weather! A good day for all involved.

More music, Maestro!
On April 28th, at 7.00 pm. The Maesteg Choir came and sang, magnificantly!
A great evening, enjoyed by all, with more singing after the main event.

Annual Lunch. On March 10th, at Melksham House, the Club hosted a lunch for some 60 elderly members of the Town.
