Easter Egg Raffles

The Big Lions Egg Raffle

Yes, you read that right… Lions DO have eggs. Easter eggs. They don’t lay them of course (that would be daft). The bunny brought them…

This Easter, Melksham Lions Club are delighted to be working with several local pubs and other businesses to raise money for Wiltshire Air Ambulance and the various community causes that we support.

We’ve arranged for raffles to be held at each of the locations listed below, with prizes of some fabulous chocolate eggs. Dates of each draw will be set by each venue at their discretion, and tickets are £1 each.

  • Absolute Power Tools – 2 Avro Way, Bowerhill, Melksham, SN12 6TP
  • Refa Tandoori – 1-3 Market Place, Melksham, SN12 6ES
  • The Harp & Crown – Velly Hill, Gastard (nr Corsham), SN13 9PU
  • The Pig & Whistle – Forest Road, Melksham, SN12 7AE

Easter Party Kingsbury Square

On Monday (26th March) an Easter Party and Egg hunt was hosted by Melksham Lions at the Kingsbury Square temporary accommodation hostel in Melksham

Thanks go out again to Dave Hickory – local Children’s Entertainer, Magician and Balloon Modeller who kindly gave up his time to keep the children entertained.

Also a big thanks to two “Friends of Lions” Rachel and Ralph who helped – a lot – with the Easter Egg Hunt

Melvin Jones Fellowship Awards

Melvin Jones Fellowship (MJF) Awards.

Pictured above are – left to right – Simon White, Cliff Terrell, Jim Whyborn and

President Keith Mead.

Melvin Jones Fellowship (MJF) Awards are given out to members by their fellow Club members in recognition of their outstanding service to both the Lions Club and the local community.

Pictured above with me are three of our members who it was felt were well deserving of such an award.

Due to some rather unforeseen circumstances it was not possible to make all three presentations at the same time.

It was my pleasure to present two of the three awards at our Christmas dinner held on 5th December 2017; these being to:

Simon White – a Charter member of Melksham Lions Club who has served the Club for over 44 years. During this time he has been President 8 times and is currently Chair of our activities committee.

Jim Whyborn – a Lion of over 14 years with the last 7 being with Melksham Lions Club. During his time with Melksham Lions he was President for 2 years and is currently Chair of our welfare committee.

It therefore gave me much pleasure at our meeting last night to present the third and final Melvin Jones Fellowship (MJF) Award to:

Cliff Terrell – a member of Melksham Lions Club for over 37 years. During this time he was President for a year – but most significantly Treasurer for 27 years.

Melksham Christmas Market

Melksham Lions were again at the annual Christmas Market, which preceded the major event in the town of switching on the Christmas Lights.

You were again generous in your support of our Lions Tombola Stall, funds from which go directly towards enabling us to continue our support of our local community.

We would like to thank everybody for their continued and generous support over the year and:-
